not by a drone, but by a navy s.e.a.l. team was of course the killing of osama bin laden in his compound in pakistan. the highest professional drone strike killing was this guy, anwar al awlaki. he was born in new mexico and killed in yemen. but between those very high profile killings, there have been dozens and dozens, ultimately hundreds of drone strikes under president obama, most of them mostly unnoticed in the news. tonight monday of president obama's inauguration, the first day president obama outlined this wide ranging liberal agenda for his second term, that same day there was a drone strike in yemen. and that drone strike on inauguration day followed drone strikes in yemen on both days of the weekend that preceded inauguration day. so we had drone strikes on saturday and on sunday and on monday, the monday the president was sworn in. it doesn't really make the news. one of the most unusual things about drone strikes for us as citizens in a country that does this is that for so long our country would not admit that we did them, even when we all knew that we did. that was the cas

shooting range. chris kyle, a decorated former navy s.e.a.l. who not only survived four combat tours in iraq but was hailed as perhaps the deadliest sniper in u.s. military history, was shot and killed on saturday by a troubled fellow soldier, a man he was trying to help. nbc news chief pentagon correspondent jim miklaszewski joins us with the latest on this. what are police and witnesses saying happened here and where things went so wrong for chris kyle? >> well, police in texas have one suspect in custody. eddie ray routh, a marine corps reservist, 25 years old, who apparently, according to reports, was suffering from ptsd. now, chris kyle and other veterans there in texas would often try to independently help those with ptsd by taking them to shooting ranges to sort of blow off steam. now, according to officials in texas, this was the first time that kyle and his friend had met eddie ray routh at this shooting range about 50 miles outside ft. worth on saturday, when suddenly and allegedly, routh opened fire with a hand gun at point-blank range allegedly again killing both kyle and

, he alleged 3 threatened to use his navy training to harm police officers involved in the case and their families. quoting here, i will bring unconventional and a symmetrical warfare to those in lapd uniform weather on or off duty. now an irvine couple is shot to death in the parking deck of their upscale complex. the victims are monica quan and her fiance. her father, randy was a retired cop who worked with dorner. inside night, police name christopher jordan dorner the chief suspect in the sunday night murders. police warees erous. dorner is say reservist known to be a skilled marksman. thursday around 1:30 in the morning, ktla reports doerner is spotted in corona. two police officers are in purr cute when dorner gets out of the truck and starts firing. one was grazed and the other not hurt. dorner flees. then a short time later, another shooting involving cops. this time in riverside. police say two officers on routine patrol are shot after being ambushed at an intersection. one officer is dead and another critically wounded. authorities are linking both shootings to dorner.
